Australia Post price increases

My wife sends one letter a month and at Christmas about 25. Thats 37 post a year and amounts to $25.00 USD annually. As far a junk mail goes, I don't know how those commercial mailers can afford it. I could cover every wall inside and out with all of it.

Don't most of them just pay some poor sod to walk around and put them in letterboxes, like they do here?

Yes... they're called mailmen and work for the United States Postal Service. They earn about $30.00 USD an hour to do it.
