A heads up for price increases:

On 1 March 2021, we'll be changing some of our retail prices for the following services:
  • Domestic parcels

  • International parcels & letters

  • MyPost Business savings (International)
This is the first price change of its kind in more than 12 months after we held the cost to consumers of sending items through COVID-19. These changes mean we can continue investing in our network to provide a sustainable service for all Australians.
Further detail about the upcoming changes is listed below.

Their pricing list is somewhat confusing. I presume that will be the new prices and not the current prices. Plus if it is the new prices why don't they show the old price alongside so we can see how much more the increase is. I'll wager that the increase is more than any pay rise that we had.
Plus what on earth does "we held the cost to consumers of sending items through Covid19" really mean? They cut their costs by making mail (including express mail) slower as well as pocketed the savings they made by the economies of scale of the boost in online purchase deliveries.

"we held the cost to consumers of sending items through COVID-19."
Read that literally and you would think the pandemic is over.

I suspect they don't want you to see the price increases -might be upsetting. They usually "revise" (always upward) prices a few time a year so this one might be a bigger increment than usual. I will have a look against my list I printed for quick reference and post some comparisons here later.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

Here are some comparisons. Doesn't look too bad, around 2%.

If you can be bothered wading through it here is a link to current pricing...https://auspost.com.au/flat-rate-sending

The introduction of flat rate pricing for "parcels" up to 5kg has simplified matters. The postcode base rates for parcels over 5kg are still there and have increased too.

Not price increases but "improvements and price changes".

I see the prices but nothing about "improvements".

They have "improved" by delivering less frequently. Less deliveries means better productivity.

Its getting to expensive to post parcels now.

Triggersmob

Jen, I was just thinking the same thing.
Price of post is getting ridiculous.
Steve

OFEC count = 258

Pedro

Smells (at least to some degree) like robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Pedro

Goldseeker

And more price increases on the way.
