I've always used Lighthouse adhesive 2x2 and never had a problem,i guess those collectors that did sourced a bad batch or Chinese copies/fakes or had them stored in a hot or humid environment.I have sealed 2x2's  from the 1970's that are still perfect, you have to cut the Coin out.
If in doubt throw a stainless steel staple in adhesive types.

I have some Lighthouse 2x2s but they are the staple type.

What makes this more effective?

Self Adhesive are awesome ... hartberger ... contact Ken Pullen Bexley Stamps one of the nicest gentleman you would ever meet

Don't buy inferior self adhesive 2x2s from Renniks or eBay buy from Ken
