Hi everyone!

My name is Amy and I'm doing an Honours degree in Psychology at RMIT University Australia.

I'm conducting an online study on the differences between collecting and hoarding behaviours, and so I'm hoping to involve some more collectors that are interested in contributing to this research area.

It's an online survey and anyone can participate as long as you are over 18 years of age. It's completely anonymous and takes about 20-30 minutes to complete.

If you would like to find out more information or participate in the research, here's the link: http://bit.ly/collecting_hoarding

Thanks! :)

When you find yourself with piles of newspapers, you are a hoarder.

That said ... I have piles of newspapers.

Hi Amy, I have completed the survey. All the best with your studies.
Collecting coins is not about having the best, but loving what you have ...

It\'s not about who you know it\'s about what you know

I'm at the point of attempting to lessen my interest in collecting coins and am finding it very difficult. It's a bloody disease I tell you :dash1: but even so, it's fun. Go figure  Go figure is not a term I would not normally use, nothing wrong with it IMO, but just shows to go ya what a few reds will do
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!

I just traded almost $2500 worth of $2 coins for Commonwealth Games tickets. Does that make me a hoarder?

JeffH

Depends if you intend just to sit on the tickets and not use them. You didn't keep the coins long enough to be considered to be hoarding them.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

Really? I've had some of those coins since March last year. I kept the 1999 and 2001 ones so I could do a statistical analysis on their obverses, and I kept the 2013-2015 ones because I wanted to preserve them in mint condition. Although I always intended to return the 1999 and 2001 ones to circulation, that was not the case with the 2013-2015 ones. However, I've got so many of them now that I've decided to get rid of all but the very best. ;)
