Quote from: 'ausjack' pid='108415' dateline='1494330140'gee I do that everywhere.

Yep that's me as well. Yipee!!!!...It's great to be normal :yahoo:

Quote from: 'Hercules' pid='108321' dateline='1494067579'I was thinking of going, but then I changed my mind, because I really can't afford to buy anything at the moment, and I'm afraid I'll end up buying things I can't afford. Some people might be able to look without buying, but I really don't think I fall into that category. :laugh2:

I will be there, along with Humpybong as a coin club volunteer. I'm taking a few days off work from now until the show, to try to get a display together.

And even though I really can't afford it after buying a new car and a holiday to Tasmania, I probably will buy some stuff while I'm there. Previous scientific studies have proven that I'm not psychologically capable of going to a coin show or coin shop and not buy anything.

I think it was the same size as last year but I was held in a much bigger room which gave the impression of the displays and tables being smaller.

Does anyone know how many Changeover coins were found in the Five Cent Forage? Does anyone know how many 1972s were found?

humpybong

Do not know if there were any changeover coins but I do know that a few 1972 coin were found.

Thanks, Barry. I've only found one Changeover 5c so far, so I wanted to know whether numbers were increasing. I guess I'll have to test the waters again myself. :)

I was the volunteer-in-charge of the five cent forage. While I wasn't there all the time to confirm, I do know at least four, maybe five, 1972s were found. Also found were at least half a dozen New Zealand tuataras, one Fijian, and one Thai baht that managed to masquerade as a 5 cents. No sixpences this year (one of those was found last year).

At least one kid also claimed to have found a 50th anniversary decimal 5 cents. They were listed on the sheet the kids had as something to look for and I spent some time explaining to them (and the parents) exactly what to look for. And also exactly what "obverse" and "reverse" meant. Good opportunity to teach some budding numismatists some numismatic jargon.

One dad had his two kids searching for double-headers, after they'd filled in their sheets; they sat there for about half a day looking for them. If they found any, they kept quiet about it.

Thanks for the info, Sapyx. That sounds similar to what I've been finding recently. I would be very surprised if anyone found a double-header, because all the people who've found them so far have lived near Sydney.

Here's the list of interesting coins I've found while noodling 5c rolls:

36x New Zealand 5c
2x Malaysia 10 Sen
2x Thailand 1 Baht
1x Australian 6d
1x USA Dime
1x Fiji 5c
