I'd like to order 2 of the coins.
No notes.
Thanks!

JeffH

Order was sent earlier today -8 purchasers, 26 coins and 4 notes, FJD$198.
Now to wait and get total price with postage added.

Well Reserve bank of Fiji is on the ball. I have received invoices from them already. I asked for two postage options -to me at home or or locally in Fiji (and I would get them when I go in November).
They actually offered three options;
1. To Australia EMS courier FJD$44
2. To Australia registered post FJD $24
3. Local delivery EMS courier $5

Option 2 looks the best to me. Option 3 is cheaper but will involve a long delay.

Now the BAD NEWS. The only payment option they offer is telegraphic transfer. Add FJD$20 for bank charge their end and my bank charges $22. That adds around 25% to the total cost -really unacceptable.
Of course they will accept cash over the counter.

So I suggest;
Plan A. Ask a friend to pay cash at their counter as invoiced for postage to Australia. I can provide him with appropriate authority and cash (will add about 3 or 4% to total).
Plan B. Similar but he gets the coins and notes (no postage cost) but you will all have to wait until near the end of the year.

Tell me what you think.

P.S. My friend does like a drop of scotch (partial to J.W. black) and knows he can depend on me for a bottle of duty free when I visit. So possibly no extra costs to ask him a favour.

Happy with whatever you feel most comfortable with.
Just remind me in November, because I'll forget by then

I agree.
Either way is fine by me.
Thank you Jeff. :)

Either way is fine.
Having said that (and meaning it) I give a slight advantage to Plan A.

Thanks for the efforts :)

I'm the same as seedyrom and steve.   Either way is OK by me

My mate is happy to oblige and goes into Suva most weeks. I offered to post him the money (have plenty of notes left from our last trip -we didn't spend nearly as much as we budgeted for) but he is fine with me fixing him up in November. He did mention though how expensive liquor is in Fiji and what good value duty free liquor is.

He is right about the liquor prices. Local spirits are cheaper but everyone prefers imported name brands. Very few locals can afford them anyway except for special occasions. And what sometimes looks better value is actually watered down (32% alcohol instead of the more usual 40%) so any cost saving is just the reduction in the excise. The weaker spirits are still quite palatable and probably better, make that less harmful, to you.

So they should be here in two weeks or so.

My mate also said he has a $7 note for me anyway. Apparently he bought some and grabbed an extra one with me in mind.

A really good friend you have there.
As soon as you know what I owe you
for both mine and Redlocks coins, let
me know and I'll pay straight away.

Thanks for organising these coins Jeff. :)

I'm still happy waiting... though me, late nights and an Ebay app are a bad combination.

They're nice enough ... but the new Australian ones leave them for dead
