Quote from: 'alexpercival920210@gmail.com' pid='105428' dateline='1487316638'I think it's time to cut the try-hard PC crap whereby they feel you need to have a woman on one side of each note and choose the people by 'merit' instead. I think the $100 is good with Monash and Melba, an example of a woman whose historical prominence really does earn her a place on our currency. Similarly, the 50 is fine given that I guess it's fitting to have an aboriginal and the 'first woman parliamentarian' (even if she's only on there for being a 'first' not for substantive achievements in itself). However it gets a bit embarrassing with the relatively obscure women on the 10 and 20. How cringeworthy and tryhardish do we need to be. Banjo Patterson and John Flynn (founder of the Royal Flying Doctors Service) are good choices but surely we can replace the two relative nobody women with more significant figures like Henry Parkes, the founder of federation, Howard Florey (inventor of penicilin), Douglas Moreson (antarctic explorer), Weary Dunlop or Arthur Phillip. Based on pure merit, it's just embarrassing to chuck on a couple of social justice warrior feminists of little note just so that you can look "progressive". This is a chance to show off the most significant historical achievers among generations of Australians are we are passing over people of real substantive achivements (ie Howard Florey, whose invention has saved literally millions of lives) so that we can meet the PC quota. Maybe when they decide having any hated white males whatsoever on the currency is too offensive altogether we can have a complete selection of professionally aggrieved types on our currency whose only achievement is whingeing and running down other people's genuine achievements.

Morons. :diablo:

I have to deal with these people on a regular basis, and we cross swords quite a lot. Vegetarians are one thing... you have every right to determine what you choose to put in your mouth. But Vegans are more like fanatic terrorists obsessing over every molecule that's ever been inside any fauna other than humans. Crackpots!

Does that include the air that they breath? And what about microfauna in said air and the ones they kill if they have a wash -they do wash don't they?
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

It's businesses like this that give vegans a bad name. Personally, I see nothing wrong with becoming a vegan, but to take it to this extreme is just crazy. It's like refusing to breathe because the air contains bacteria. :ok:
