This arvo i purchased a 1970 20c mint roll and now i dont know what to do with it so need some advice. Its not the rarest date but is early.

So is it worth sending to PCGS and what grades should i expect?

I cant find any rolls on the internet so has anyone seen a recent sale or know a price guide other than maccas/rennicks?

Thanks in advance!

The Only way you will know if it is viable to do this is to open the roll and see if there are coins in there MS67 or better then go for it.
Unfortunately though finding MS67 or better in rolls is pretty tough and this was also a year when just under 24 Million 1970 20c coins were minted

Thanks trout thats helpful. Ill have to weigh up whether or not to break it.

The 1970 Mint sets were issued in those awful little PVC folders so PVC damage is problematic with these.
The coins in your roll ( as long as it hasn't already been searched and re rolled) may hold some pretty nice coins.
How much did you pay for the roll and where did you get it ?

Now that i've sobered up i would be very wary of any rolled Coins sold on Ebay & FB,if it was mine i would carefully unpick the roll and see whats inside but i can't see slabbing is going to be worthwhile other than for a personal collection.
There is a cottage industry on Ebay with these rolls, the best coins are taken out then the roll is resold.

This has been going on for a long time and it is just about impossible to tell if a roll has been looked through and then re rolled.
It is pretty much a crap shoot buying rolls these days Just look at what the various roll sellers of the $2 woolies coins were able to achieve using various different wrappers.

This particular roll came from a non internet sale and from a huge collection of rolls. Im thinking its original and either way i paid next to nothing for it. Ive never had luck rerolling them im a bit too clumsy but ive offered thought that there must be people less clumsy who can do it well.

Some people are experts at doing it Mate
If it was my roll I would have opened it up as soon as I got it home, I have never been very good at leaving a roll of coins alone :blush2:

These aren't worth slabbing IMO as they need to grade MS67 to have any chance of being
ahead of the game and the chances of getting a couple of them to grade MS67 is quite low
so you will lose out on the rest of the roll unless you can precisely pick out the potential MS67
coins

The MS66 coins do OK on eBay $80-$120 :ok:

Why would they sell at that price when MS67 are available as BIN (with free postage) at $149 from Cotton?

I just had a look at Bluesheet , MS67 $100.
I am sure these were worth more than that not that long ago, WoW.
