1st and 2nd look like they might be but hard to tell as you need a good closeup of the area. Some of the others look like there's a faint trace but I'd want to see them in hand to give a definite yes or no sorry.

Quote from: 'serial' pid='95031' dateline='1471596805'concluded that the SD was vulnerable to break down and when it started to break up the mint operator would grind the remainder of the SD away to extend the life of the die a little.

Sorry, I'm going to call bullshit on this one too.

Given that the initials are raised on the coin, the die would have to be filled, not ground. Sure, they could do it to a hob, but why would they? Its not like they make a million dies from it, so the wear and tear should not be excessive. And anyway, if the hob is damaged, just make another, right?

I put this squarely in the same category as the missing leg $1. Two different errors, one being a die fill, the other being a die variety for whatever reason, producing two similar but different results.

Call bullshit, until I find the article again I can't prove either way. If I find it I will post it in the mean time believe what you want, I for 1 am not convinced 100% either way how it happens it just seemed like the most plausible explanation at the time. But I do know , from experience, what a proper no SD looks like and most of the ones listed in page one are not no sd's

and I call bullshit on your missing leg $1 being anything other than a weak strike or filled die
its not a die variety no matter how much you hope it is
or have you got an article on the subject to prove your position?

Did Fulvio say the missing leg is a die variety? I think not. He just confused the issue by the way he phrased his comment.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.
