when we were younger & lived in QLD we baked through a bank that allowed you to deposit a set amount each pay for bills over the course of the year
it was at times in debit and the bank carried the debit

years on - we still keep an account (not with the same bank) but every january the hubby sits down and does the bills calculations and we deposit each pay into our 'bills' account
jeesh - it takes the pressure off for the big things like rego, care servicing and tyres, power bills  
we have been doing this for over 30 years now

doesn't give you extra for coins but your comment made me remember that we do this

It's always easier said than done and especially when your working getting that extra incoming coming in but I try to save the best I can on the pittance I receive but it's the little things like unexpected medical bills that very quickly bring any budgeting undone like the trip to the surgeon a couple of months ago that cost a decent chunk out of my pension and the ongoing costs to that like extra trips to the Dr's and extra meds etc. At the end of the month I'll be out of action for up to two months according to him trying to recover but it's these things that make life so hard and a lot harder than it should be as they happen more often than one would like and if the coalition get back in and make me pay more for meds and Dr's and scans etc I honestly don't know how much longer I'll be around as the stress is just unbelievable and I know I'm not the only one like this and that there's a few other members that are also doing it tough and know what I'm saying as the money goes out so much quicker than it comes in but what can ya do and I can't touch my stupid super because of the stupid laws they have in place and I could do a lot with that 10K and dropping all the time as it's getting eaten up in fees

So on the 6th I have my pre-op and then the op at the so I will be quiet for the next few so ya's better be nice to each other while I'm away or there'll be trouble :winkextra:

it just made me think of how me manage bills
i didn't mean to seem condescending at all
we had that original account when we had 3 little kids, rent (govvie house fortunately), very very low incomes, old cars that didn't work more than they did and we really did live off the sniff of an oily rag - but boy it kept a roof over our heads
so i do appreciate your position and sometimes after working for so long, that sometimes I can't figure how people can live off pensions, newstart etc.  these days
we help out all of our kids as they have centrelink income, or no income at times  + part time work but we can only do that because we have a regular wages coming in

Yep it's all good :friends: and sorry for having a rant :angel: but it's these things that make us depressed

One thing I was thinking about at 4AM this morning that I forgot that I should have mentioned but didn't because I'm a bloody sieve and that's that my CTP greenslip had risen from $357.87 to $465.30 with AAMI so I went with QBE this time as they were the cheapest with $449 so it's "little" rises like that that also blow a budget apart. Funny thing, there was a report n the TV the other day saying how due to people either ripping off or trying to rip off the system they will be cutting back the amount of compo given for car crashes and especially soft tissue damage so next year greenslips should be $100 cheaper but that doesn't help me now and we'll have to wait and see it they do drop but then it's not fair if you do get hurt in a crash and yet again like my workcover you don't get compensated :dash1: And also in that report they said the NSW gov had raised payments on over 400 things from CTP's to road tolls and power will probably be going up at least $100 but it's all good as the gov is building new sports stadiums and train lines and roads for sydney so that all helps me greatly :laugh2: sorry I have to laugh or I'd cry :winkextra: But everything is really a joke and quite frustrating to say the least.. ok end of my rant again sorry :blush2:
