The "ANDA Show" name has been retired, and in its place is the more descriptive "Money Expo". Entrance fees have also been scrapped, and some of the venues have been changed to improve accessibility. The first Money Expo will be held in Perth on the weekend of the 27th and 28th February.

At present, no news as to a special "P" coin to b e released at the Perth Show.

What a pity.

:good:

Also like both days are on the weekend.

As a bit of a follow-up I got $6 worth of 5c pieces from the bank and didn't find the following years:
1966, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1983, 1988 and 2015.

That's not a bad spread - I collected the 20,000 coins the other day (all 57 kilos of them), they're ready to be sorted on the day. Hopefully the table is strong enough to hold them!

That's good to find a 1972 from such a small quantity. I consider, from my noodling, you need to search at least 1,000 coins to get a truly representative sample.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

Let us know how it goes anyway.
Also, nice library you've got there in the background.

Yes, it's odd. I've found four of the things in the last six months or so which is more than I've found in the preceding 15 years or so. People must be throwing back their more circulated examples...
In any case, I hope it demonstrates that $10 should yield almost all 5c dates.

Just wondering how the kids noodling venture went. (Hoping it went well).

Did many participate, did any get full sets or spot any errors?

This will also be at the Brisbane ANDA on 21-22 May, 2016.

Interested in seeing how it goes.

Both days went really well - we only ended up going through about $150 in coins all up which was interesting. This probably means the folks towards the end of the weekend were going through the stuff that had already been sorted earlier in the weekend, however I don't think that detracted from the fun of the idea. There were some adults going through the coins at one stage, just before I went over to read them the riot act about taking coins away from kids etc etc, one of the Perth Numismatic Society volunteers let me know they were parents and grandparents building sets to take home for their kids that didn't come along. :)
The foreign coin exercise was popular as well, so I reckons we'll be rolling this out at each ANDA show later this year.

You think so?
You are a far more tolerant Man than I am Mate :)
I recon they would have been compulsive noodlers that just couldn't resist the opportunity.
I was under the assumption that this project was to encourage youngsters to join our merry band of numismatist , Not to supply coins for the Kids/Grandkids that their parents/grandparent's couldn't be bothered to bring to the show.
If these people genuinely wanted the kids to have a set of 5c coins they would have stolen your idea and grabbed a few dollars worth of 5c coins from the bank for them to experience the fun of finding a set themselves.  :ok:

I went to the Brisbane ANDA Money Expo on the weekend just gone. I watched the kids doing the 5 cent noodling and they looked like they were having a great time, It is a great idea. The Expo was very busy on the Saturday and it was almost impossible to find a car park near the venue. :)
Cheers Mike
Australian Decimal, UK Decimal, USA & Euro Coins are what I collect.
