There is no hope !
NGC is just as bad. Look at the NGC AU58 1919 .//. penny in the Benchmark Collection that some schmuck paid $7100 for because it has been third party "authenticated".:shok: It has a die chip for the top dot and is the well known Dot Below variety with the die crack through the date and false top dot (worth at best a few hundred), that variety has been known about for nearly as long as the real 1919 .//. (look at the old catalogues from the '60s). Guess the Benchmark Collection wasn't the "complete" collection that it was touted to be:taunt: (or look at the '46 florin with large 6 or a few other goofs that collection had).
Half the slabbed 1920 No Dots I have seen are CBLs or are from known Dot Below FBL dies :-/ (again both PCGS and NGC are bad at this but NGC is worse).
What compensation will the buyer of this coin get when they find out the description is wrong? My understanding is that they put very low valuations on coins to minimise compensation if they make a mistake (I've looked at the PCGS Price Guide for a few high grade coins and their values are often only 10-20% of the real value)

Yeah, I did notice their 46 supposed big 6. Simply amazing they could have gotten this so wrong, and I stand corrected if not so, but most particularly that the set was put together by an influential dealer. Obviously some people invest sight unseen  without proper knowledge, and are happy to put blind faith in other entities and organisations.:scratch_one-s_head:

They have recognized the 1952 A. Penny Wedge serif 2

Emu (Peter) and Eric, and possibly others have been lobbying PCGS about this.
Good to see their efforts have paid off.
My guess is that there will be more inclusions very soon.

And about time, I had a 1979 double bar graded a little while ago and noticed they don't have any recognised yet so there's probably a lot of coins in both decimal and pre that are yet to be attributed.

Oh and my double bar isn't recognised but you can see it on the pcgs pic's

I currently have one with them both 79 and 80 that I have asked them to recognise. I will know in the next couple of days

Indeed, for me it looks good enough to eat, like a nice warm piece of toast with butter and honey spread liberally across it, slowly melting.

Looks like they now have a 79 and 80 double bar section. Just got results back on these and they have been recognized. Expect them to appear on the population report soon

ausjack

Thanks serial, now to decide if I should send mine back :scratch_one-s_head: it went MS65 and not a bad looking coin for finding it in the pond a few years ago.

serial

Yeh hard call that. Its worth getting it attributed as a double bar but the value wouldn't change enough for a ms65 to justify the expense. However if you want it then the cost doesn't really matter

ausjack

Yeah I don't think I'll worry about it as I know it's a double bar. If it was higher grade it would probably be worth it.
