Gulgong NSW was on the original $10 note. For interesting information Google "Holtermann Collection"

Cheers,
Jeff
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

We have come a long way, I guess
There is one photo which shows a fabulous garden - so the resourceful gardening miner could have a great garden even back then. My background was around mining and my father always had a terriffic veggie patch too. He'd cover the garden with hession to stop the veggies getting sunburnt.
Nothing beats a fridge inthe back yard! cheers Rob

cheers Barry - it is a great area - had family there for many years but everyone has since moved - the old bridge is no longer used as well, so I have been told.

The old Hornibrook Highway is no more.....pulled down when they built the Ted Snout Bridge.  We still have 2 bridges left.

I used to live in Murrumbateman, 15k south of Yass (my old Username).  I've sold both properties there and bought one down Bateman Bay way on the South Coast.  I still work and live in Canberra, but spend Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun nights there. Its only a 2 hour commute.

Why Wednesday?  I have to let the cat out. True!  My cat was bought up on 8 acres of grassland at Murrumbateman.  She is 17 years old and was ok when we first moved into a Canberra unit.  We subsequently changed units, and she did not like it one little bit! Crapped and peed everywhere; something that she had never done before.  We took her down the coast, and she is back using her litter tray.  I think she was trying (very successfully) to tell us where she wants to retire to!

And what a great place to retire to- love the fish and chips on the wharf.!!
