To help create some excitement and pull some new members in, I was wondering if members might be interested in a give-a-way. I was thinking of the 1000 member give-a-way that was run on the CCF forum a few years ago (some of you might remember it).

Here is a link.. http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=4828

To summarise it, anyone who wants to enter, sends a coin to who ever is nominated to collect all the coins and then when the 1000th (500th for us) member joins up, the winner is drawn and wins all the coins.

First we would need the OK from Markn and PPH.
If they approve, then maybe they could hold the coins until the winner is named.

Let me know what you think.

Sounds like fun. As long as I don't have to organise/keep track of it. If someone trustworthy could put their keen hand up.

Sounds a good idea but, cumulative postage costs will mount up.
I give it a YES.
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

If it's the 500th member who will win the coins this sentence is mis-leading:

"To summarise it, anyone who wants to enter, sends a coin to who ever is nominated to collect all the coins and then when the 1000th (500th for us) member joins up, the winner is drawn and wins all the coins. "

The 500th member will be the winner, so no draw would be required.

No, the 500th member does not win the coins. The draw is done when the 500th member signs up. The winner would be anyone who has opted into the contest by sending in a coin or coins. These coins can the any coins that the participant wishes to send in and I would hope that each person could add an extra $1 to help cover the final postage cost.
