I have 4 different banks trying to get these for me and I have been through over $15k worth of coins in the last week and a half and not one single 2014 dollar coin!
I am telling you the security companies are looking after their own and releasing them via ebay!
I cant think of any other reason why we have not got any here yet!

how on earth can you noodle $15K worth of coins in a week. Let alone get a hold of such quantities?
do you get the kids on the job as well?

serial

how many of you are in wa?
and Robbie girl, I do it in front of the tv and target certain coins eg NCLT, rotation 2001, mules, major errors etc and avoin minor cuds. I also have a good relationship with my donor bank and I dump noodled stuff over a number of different banks
I also have a very understanding partner :)

I can also go through $1k an hour nowdays, you gotta have a system!

robbiegal

well I reckon that is incredible

I take about 3 months to properly sort about 10 kilos of pennies and then I just might recheck them again ... and again ha ha
admittedly I work full-time so I guess I lose the better part of most days
but jeepers
if I have $1k it would still take me more than a week, I reckon

serial

yeh stay at home dad here so I have time
I just gave my daughter a book on how to grade kgv coins so I am going to go through some 1/2 pennies with her now
gotta teach the kids young

echidna

ps
you could make her up a grading set - like a reference set
my dealer made one for me years ago and I still use it

I have the Anda book with pics and I just showed her a you tube vid on how coins are struck then explained cartwheeling and why. we just finished. enough for the night bloody hard work when she wants to show me every little thing!

I also showed her some slabbed coins for reference material and she wants to see a FDR coin now. sigh

Sounds like you have a great daughter and to have a young 'un so willing to learn is wonderful.  She must be a source of much joy for you.   How old is she?

I have no doubt serial does that. I used to go through dollar coins (courtesy of Burswood Casino and the Perth banks) at a rate of about 1500 per hour.

:shok: I can't think that fast let alone move that many coins in an hour!

My daughter is 11 and my son 10. The both help out but Saffron has a better aptitude for it. The both get excited to see my latest purchase when I get an aus post package. My hope is that they don't sell stuff cheaply when they inherit it unlike so many people.

robbiegal

well I recommend that you enjoy the hobby with your kids now and don't fret about the posthumous bizzo
the kids will have fond memories of sorting through coins with Dad and that is the important part of it & it's right now

they will learn and be more cautious when it comes to selling, but markets and values change like the wind in this hobby - what is worth a few quid today may have no collector value in as little as  5 years time (or less)

but gee, if we only really collect for when we have kicked the bucket ... then i'd chuck it in today!

I drag them round on my bank runs as well and they love it when I get something. But get annoyed when I don't. I tried to get them into noodling but they get bored to easily but when I have done a batch they are excited to see what I have found. I also promised them both a fine silver set for their birth year if the get sold a's and only 1 b at the end of the year. I have already got the 2003 set. I do adore the fact they are getting into it. Better than other hobbies they could have

interest

Please explain.... if you can, because I'm confused.
There are 23 million of this ANZAC coin released, selling for $6.95 each
Yet there are 1 million 2014 MOR's released, selling for $3.95 each
See why I'm confused.
