Yeah I had a PO box a few years ago and ditched it when it went over
$50 because I thought it was too much so it didnt take long to double in price after that.Just like insurance prices lots of things are spiraling out of control.I feel sorry for my kids.

Just got back from the post office, This is BS
All the parcels were the smallest padded envelopes that normally go as large letters.
My cost per item sent before was about $4.20, NOW it works out to $11.75 :dash1:

With the padded envelope did they exceed 20mm thick (as that's the maximum thickness for a large letter, but I guess you know that eh)?

Question 87 ...... I thought that there was only Signature on Delivery options for parcels now?

It looks like you've paid for registered, which I thought was only for letters?

I'm likely wrong, but that's how I thought it worked now.

I defiantly got screwed over the charges according to the NEW postal charges book 31/3/14 are as follows ;

Registered post sticker $3.50
Large letter 180x260x20 <126g  $1.40
padded envelope $1.05

Total cost $5.95
Not Bloody $11.75

They've charged you for a parcel rather than a large letter.


Best way to took after costs is to turn up at the post office with stamps the large letter and a registered label already attached so that you are not paying any money at the time of lodgement. This usually removes the temptation for the post office staff to overcharge you.
(You can buy padded bags and registered labels in bulk so you'll save some money this way too).

Also see Trouts receipt has article ID's for the parcels which are given on printing the label, but the reg labels have different numbers, so what numbers are being tracked/lodged?

     I have sent my items to you today ,
     ok , I buy the large padded bags were $ 1.20 ea
 but if I buy by the 100 ,I get them for .45 cents ea
  so it was my bag . now post $ 1.40 for postage
    plus $ 3.50 for registered mail
     total   $ 4.90 from me to you with tracking number .
 so total to you should be that $ 4.90 plus the padded bag if you just buy them singlely .
  providing they are under 125 grams and less then 20 mm wide .
  if you buy the padded bags by the 100 , just go to the back of them and scribble over the bar code before you present it to the counter for posting , some of the girls working in the post office will ask you if it your bag , but some will just charge you for it , but they cant do that if you scribble over the bar code ..
