Is the white circle, behind the house, the dish?

I presume so. That back building wasn't there 25 years ago, and I remember it being a lot further away. I guess things change... there's no sign of the traffic light he used to have out the front... which seems to have been replaced by a tree. Used to be great fun... a car would slow down... stop... back door open, kid run out, push the button... then hightail it back to the car when the lights changed! Many giggles from everyone in the house as the car then sped away.

Yes, could be a dish -fiddled with the contrast on a screen grab and looks like it throws a shadow.
If scale on the map is accurate that makes it about 5m diameter.
The total width of the house block scales at around 30m.

The property actually includes the surrounding orchards, which pay the bills. As I recall, wifey wasn't all that impressed with his hobbies, which is why he was banished to the radio shack way out the back. Maybe things changed with the new construction, and he was forced to downsize? Shrug... or maybe I remembered it all wrong. ;)

Maybe it's time for old mate to get a NEW Wifey that does  appreciate what he does in his spare time
The "Dog Box" scenario has NEVER appealed to me or will I ever wear that idea.
But then again what do I know , I have been divorced twice and am living "In Sin" (for the last 14 years) with the 3rd Missus .
I may have hit the jackpot on the third try :yahoo:

Heh, I have to fess up to buying a brand-spanking-new Trash-80 Model I.. AND having an absolute ball with it, I must say! Eventually accumulated quite a stable of their machines, all the way up to a Model 16, which was quite the beast in its day.

Ah, memories.. back in the days of Missus 1.0.. who was actually not too bad, compared with 2.0 and 3.0... *sigh*

Thinking of buying an electronic device from Aldi -the prices are very attractive?
May I suggest you do a little research on the net first; plenty of reviews out there.

If you still want to proceed with your purchase carefully check the warranty conditions and ask if the item can be returned to the store when if an issue arises. If the answer is "yes" ask for that in writing because you could be setting a precedent. Consumer guarantees {Who to claim a remedy from} This does not necessarily apply as far as Aldi is concerned.

tI is also worth checking the level of support offered. Don't bother going to Aldi website -nothig there about electronic products they sell. Instead try TEMPO Australia and click on the brand name of your item of interest.
Did you find your item? Did you notice the "© 2014 ALDI" somewhere on the page? Maybe you should download the owner's handbook to familiarise yourself with your forthcoming pride and joy -good luck finding it! Also, just for the heck of it enquire about buying a replacement remote control.

To my knowledge Aldi has never manufactured electronic products and Aldi owns the brand names it sells.
So where are they made? Clue; Google "middle Kingdom" and the answer is not "Egypt".

Cheers,
Jeff

The same could be said of all the retailers with 'own brand electronics', couldn't it?
I have returned a coffee machine to Aldi under warranty with no problems at all.
Why would the 'consumer guarantees' you linked to not apply to Aldi?

JeffH

Why not indeed.
But try returning an appliance with a 12 month warranty, to the store it was purchased from, 3 months and 1 day after the purchase. You won't be happy with what you get told.

And, I didn't mean to suggest all Chinese items are rubbish. Far from it in some cases -they are probably repeating the Japanese learning curve ; but faster! And in other cases.....(don't ask).

PS. My advice is applicable for nearly any purchase. The better informed you make yourself before forking out your hard earned; the happier you are likely to be with the resultant purchase.

I know what you mean Jeff. A chap in front of me a few months back was wanting to return his leaking coffee maker and it was similar to what you say. Just greater than 3 months old. He left being not a happy chappy.

That being said, V2 of the coffee maker is a much better machine. Our leaking V1 is around here somewhere. :laugh2:

I just gave a example of returning something to Aldi, which went fine.

Some retailers (or their staff) may be ignorant of their legal responsibilities (or may try to avoid their responsibilities) but the rules still apply to them.

Your original post came across as 'anti Aldi' to me, but I think it was intended more as a general 'buyer beware'?
