I have in my possession 3 1968 20 cent coins that have no "SD" designer's initials. I have contacted the RAM and they assure me that no coins of this type exist. I would be interested if anyone has come across such coins as I understand there are a few 2 cent coins with missing "SD"

Welcome to the forum Brushy.  Interesting coins I've heard nothing about.  Want to post up some pictures in the gallery?

I've had them 44 years. picked them all up together in change. There is a distinct "concave" nature of the "pool" which should contain the initials. So I'm still confident there is no fill in. What do you think? Cheers.

I've had them 44 years, picked them all up on same day in change. There is a distinct "concave nature of the "pool" that should contain the SD so I'm still confident there's no fill. What do you think?

I can see a couple little spots where the SD should be. My money is on grease filled die.

Yes I'm with you, I must say they are in great condition and well spotted 44 years ago

I had this note saved re 20c's with missing SD:

"20¢ - no SD - There were several coins that had little dots in the area but these ones are missing the SD

1967
1968
1970
1976
1977
1978"

I'm not sure where the info came from, possibly Brissyboy on ACBO, but please don't quote me on it as I really can't remember.

Our 'friend' Shanew on CCF also had 2 x 1970 with no SD

That would seem to indicate its not a fill then, wouldn't it?

I suppose you could see it that way.  I created that 20c doc on 6 July 2007 so I must have got the info from ACT&B as we didn't start using ACBO till 2010.
