I love the toning on the reverse of the quarter anna but the obverse just looks wierd with the copper/gold colouring.
I don't think I have seen  colour like this on a silver coin before.

It's bronze not silver.  The colouring reminds me of a few wildly toned 1964 pennies that PPH has squirrelled away in her hoard.

Mister T

Very nice. It almost looks like a different portrait when the hair is so well struck.

Thanks for that Mark.
The only ones of these I have are 1/2 rupee and are silver.
The bronze I can understand.
The kings portrait looks a heap better on these than on our 1910 coins. :good:

Well I am risking the forum :police_car: coming to give me a smack for going :off_topic: but here's one of those 1964 pennies with similar colours.  Sorry about rubbish picture, it's an old one.

The little die crack on the reverse adds character. What a lovely coin!!!!! The toning is to die for!

The quarter and 1/12 Anna are one of my favourite world coins, if not my favourite.

Here's a few more for you then.  Arrived a couple of months ago, not sure that I've posted them up anywhere before.

Are they graded?

They look stunning. I prefer the coins with a monarch on the obverse.

Btw, your photos are truly amazing mark!

These are only scans but the similarities in design on 2 coins from 2 diferant sides of the world is interesting.
