South Australia had the province of 'Bumbunga' for similar reasons! :dodgy:

I don't think its ever about taxes. Its usually about bureaucracies overstepping the mark.

The reason the Hut river Province was founded was all about Wheat Quota's.
Google it up :)

Quote from: 'Fulvio' pid='104898' dateline='1486219995'With the end of Prince Leonard's reign, perhaps its time to stock up on numismatic and philatelic items from this quirky state? It may not outlive him by much, after all.

Not only the end of his reign; now the end of "Prince" Leonard. Refashioned as a prince among men

I bought a bundle of their stamps when I visited over 20 years ago,
but did not buy any coins. I have since, acquired one coin.

From the paper today..."(Victoria) Police have seen the emergence of small groups of people calling themselves "sovereign citizens" who don't believe the law applies to them.
Mostly mask deniers.
Maybe Hutt River Province can be reconstituted so they can all go there.

"Sovereign citizens" aren't something new. Some old-timers here may remember the forum member niksfree, who was active on the old SecretSquirrel forum? He was one of those Sovereign Citizen types.

Sovereign citizens don't believe "the law doesn't apply to them"; rather, the only sources of law they recognize are the Magna Carta and the Australian Constitution. Since police forces and local council governments aren't mentioned in either of those documents, police forces and city councils must therefore be illegal.

Sovereign citizens conveniently ignore Section 51 of the Constitution, which lets the Australian parliament set pretty much whatever laws, rules and regulations it wishes to, so long as they don't directly contradict the Constitution.

Principality of Hutt River rejoins the nation

Just the other day I picked up a set of the five "banknotes" 10 cents to 2 dollars for a laugh for $4. Figured I couldn't go wrong.
Surprising news that they are re-ceding? Is that the opposite of seceding?
