Sad. I remember meeting him at one of the ANDA shows in Brisbane a few years ago - he was selling that month's CAB at the CAB stand (which I haven't seen make an appearance since) and he sold it to me cheap.

I met and had a chat with Ian at a Brisbane coin show a few years back. He was a good bloke who loved what he did in the world of numismatics. RIP
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!

I never met him, but I've got two of his books, which I'm very impressed with. I sure hope someone else will be able to pick up where he left off and continue the great work that he's done, because it would be a real shame if his books weren't kept up-to-date and they eventually went out-of-print because of this. RIP Ian.

RIP Ian.   I enjoyed our emails and conversations of the past.   Condolences to family members.

Ian was one of the great contributors to CAB magazine over many years
I loved his motto: VARIETIES - THE THINKING ARM OF NUMISMATICS
My condolences as well
Fred Lever is also a great contributor I hope he can continue and fill the void

I never had the pleasure of meeting Ian in person, but those who did have always spoken about a friendly and enthusiastic collector, always willing to share his wit and knowledge with all comers. A true rarity.  Condolences to Ian's family. As they grieve his loss it may help to know that there are bowed heads throughout the numismatic world who are also mourning his passing. RIP!

Hi All, I will certainly miss my chats with Ian. We may have had differing views on things, but we got on well with our common love of simply collecting Aussie coins and looking for differences. He had a damn good memory for errors and was always up for a talk about a certain coin. I may have shouted at him a few times and expected a good serve back. We will always miss a solid rock like him in the stream of life. See  Ya  Ian.
