Now that I'm finally back on line I've been sussing Eric's and PP's sites and even before I went off line (stupid telstra) :dodgy: for a while I noticed, and especially on PP's site that error coins to be the hottest thing around as they list them and as soon as they're listed BAM they're gone so I don't get to see what the price was as they put some up yesterday and today they're all gone.

Well done on such quick sales PP :good:

Now what's not hot still seems to be high end coins so I wonder how long it will be until this side of the market picks up again as it seems to have been down for a few years now.

I suppose that's just the beauty of the ebbs and flows of the market so it still appears to be a buyers market for high end coins..not that I can afford them but I do like to window shop and keep track of what's going on.

Thoughts please peoples..but no fights thanks

Always seems to me that pre-decimals proofs are cheap relative to their low mintage? Survival rates are high I guess but 1,000 is not a lot compare with all the modern "rarities". Plus they are very pretty. Love the full red in the pennies. Why the hate?

Yes I agree about the predecimal proof and they're one of my favourites and I love them, so shinny :drooling: and I have a few but bought at the wrong time as they've dropped so much and you can nearly get a set for what I paid for one of my florins but them's the breaks and it's not like they'll be minting any more in a hurry so being such a low mintage they should be worth more.

I think that many collectors are weary of pre decimal proofs because they think that they would be too expensive to collect But in reality they are pretty cheap compared to the business strike coins in the same grades at the moment and in my opinion underrated and undervalued.

Yes the coppers are nice but I am very partial to the silver :winkextra:

Yes totally agree trout :good:

I think people see the pre 1955 proofs sell and think they'd never be able to afford them and this is true but they forget that the pre 1955 are very rare but after that and especially the very late one's you can get them pretty cheap and especially if you look around and buy at auctions.
