What should I be doing with my coin bags?

Just wondering what storage method I should be using to store the RAM coin swap bags, as they have a tear and are not properly sealed.

I have put mine in vacuum sealed bags :good:

I carefully align the coins to the bottom of the bag then tightly roll the RAM bag up.   I then place that rolled bag into a normal small plastic coin bag one can get from the banks.   I then roll that up as tight as I can and seal off with a bit of sticky tape.   Iyt may not be the best way but all the bags I have done this way are still in tact.

The vacuum sealing method not only removes the air it also locks the coins in a fixed position and removes the problem with "bagging" if the coins are moved around. :)

You can get up to four 'rolls' in a bank bag like this. Note that not only do the bank bags have air holes, but they're also made of LDPE which is NOT a barrier to gas or moisture. Depending on quantities involved, I seal mine in recycled chip packets, which are multilayered metallised BoPET, or put them in PP buckets with Oxygen and moisture adsorbers.

That only works if the film itself doesn't allow air to pass through. LDPE is highly porous, so not the best choice. BoPP or BoPET are better, with one being good against moisture, the other Oxygen.

Thanks for the replies, I'm thinking that an airtight container with oxygen and moisture absorbers would be the go.

I wonder if those coin tubes are available in the various sizes so that the entire collection of these could be housed in them ??

You mean the acrylic tubes with the end caps? They wouldn't fit unless you broke the bags open, would they? And what are the caps? HDPE? PP? PVC? ;)
