I apologise if this is an old topic, but I've only recently started looking at numisbid.

At the moment, I'm moving between collecting streams and looking to sell some coins, while buying others. When using ebay, it seems I'm making more on postage than I am on items (admittedly, it's mostly grannybait atm).

I am now looking to sell some coins which I was hoping would get some reasonable values, so just curious as to whether I should bother with numisbid or stick with ebay?

Most would be $1 mint mark varities in Unc although none have been PCGS graded. Is it worth grading them first via PCGS and then selling them or is this over-investing?

Appreciate any guidance.

Hey,  I will be the last one to give you advise on decimal coins... However I have sold many coins via NumisBid and have no complaints... As any auction house there will be ups and downs. But you get more money for your coins when sold via NB. ebay is very poor for selling coins... I do lot of buying and selling on ebay and NB, almost all are pre decimal coins..
Collecting coins is not about having the best, but loving what you have ...

I recently sold my 25mm Dollar coins that I had graded by PCGS and it really isn't worth getting the graded if you are only intending to sell them.
I had mine graded as I was building a set registry But the ABC coins Killed my passion for these and I decided to get rid of them.
I think I just covered the grading costs on the sales of these , So NOT a good idea getting these graded in an effort to make a profit :ok:

Numisbid is a great way to sell your graded Australian coins if you are basically a lazy bugger like me because Walter does ALL the work and the auction costs are 10% or a minimum of $8 per coin, Which is better than eBay because there are NO paypal fees.

For your lower value slabs and RAW coins eBay is probably the better option but there would be a fair bit of effort involved and you have to be pretty good behind a camera as well.

Good question, I buy stuff on Numisbid but I have only sold on Ebay. I did not know about the $8 minimum per coin which means that lower value coins, say less than $20 to $50, are better suited to Ebay. Thanks for the wake up call I will think seriously about selling a few things on Numisbid.

Almost certainly not worth getting them graded.

Definitely agree with that. I have heaps of them and I won't be getting them slabbed. Mind you I'm not selling them either.

I've been slowly selling a few coins for most of this year. Slow being the operative word, probably about 2 or 3 per week but at an average price of about $25 it does provide some extra funds for buying other coins.

Appreciate all the very solid advice.

Will try my luck on ebay with the 25mm Dollar coins, however it remains to be seen whether mobile coin press mint marks attract their value. I'd be disappointed if I only managed to get face value plus postage.

I'd reluctantly taken other RAM items at face value plus postage. Need to transform it into coins I like.

$8 per coin commission on Numisbid does seem high for low value coins, but entirely reasonable for higher grade coins. Will keep that in mind. Ebay does annoy me with the leg work, so the $8 seems like a good investment.
