Couldn't find a thread just on the humble sixpence, appologies if there is one started.
Anyway playing around with these today instead of the threepences, came across some more interesting and unlisted in Renniks.
These are all 1946 :) for the time being
Obverse with a couple of mighty diecracks, with a diecrack which runs from the rim to the E in sixpence on the rev.

More diecracks, E and RH scroll

Similar to a version of the 1954 sixpence with the diecracks,

Roo's tail only with the diecrack.

Last one for today, a large dot between I and X with a large dot in the shield near the centre.

You're going great guns G!!

Certainly lots of variations in that selection, keep 'em coming!

cheers Uni :) seems like it's never ending at the moment, turn the page and it's like seeing them for the first time again. :)

Does anyone have any information on some of the sixpences that Strand Coins are selling in their next auction? They say that they are from the Contact Novelty Company Hoard and there is one lot that has been NGC graded and has this attribution on the label inside the holders.

Perhaps I should have read the information at the start of the auction first. The coins were apparently found buried in a wooden chest in Sydney.

Found the coins listed in the Smalls Auctions. A bit suss in that the rolls have been opened and only 10 sixpences are being sold with the wrapper. Opened rolls *especially part roll lots) usually mean the seller has taken out the choice stuff. The lot with the group of slabbed sixpences are only NGC ms64 and I'm wondering if they slabbed a number of the better coins and the best (MS65-66?) may appear later as single slabs, they might have slabbed dozens of sixpences with that Novelty Hoard description and will slowly feed them out onto the market.

I agree with Neal. You either buy the rolll or get hand picked choice coins... I saw this lot, but not my cup of tea.
Collecting coins is not about having the best, but loving what you have ...

I agree the choice coins have probably been picked out and will appear in the market at a later date in single slabs like Neal suggested they would.

Very nice, echidna. :) Don't think I've got a ddr on any coins. Will have to have another recheck.

Nice errors team :good: But what's DDR, something to do with doubling :scratch_one-s_head:
