I was trolling Facebook today and watching some coin auctions go through in an Aussie coins group. There were some $1 mor errors go through include a mor "spew variety" that is "extremely rare". This seller had 2 of these go through. All it was is a cud under a kangaroos mouth. Why can't people call a cud a cud instead of making something out of nothing.

What years were they BF? (Some years are very hard to find)

Personally I don't mind them being referred to in placement terms. ie: rabbit ears cud, spew roo cud, poo roo cud, backpack cud, bubble cud or even Kel's latest bumbag cud as if they were all just called cud it could mean anything and thus more difficult to search for a specific item.

I think most of Renniks varieties would be considered cuds or cracks with a few true die varieties.

Each to their own I guess.

EDIT: I just did a search for posts that use the word "spew" returning around 200 results so I think the term has been widely used by many members for quite some time now.

Nonetheless, I don't mind if you call them just cuds.

That is another thing that shits me. Error ba variety......cud is an error and will never be a variety. If you are gunna sell at least get the terms right. But in saying all that even the major publishers and authors can't get it right

I tend to agree, things like wide & tilted dates are true varieties that come quickly to mind. It's just easy to blur the lines I guess. There was a bit of a discussion on the two terms some time back.

Well, there's your first mistake right there, big fella!

Those groups are all borderline scamfests, where admins prey on ignorance. They quash any sort of real discussion, especially warnings, so that they can flog off their overpriced garbage on the unsuspecting.

Did you miss the whole Variety/Error/Flaw argument I had here a while back????

In my book, listing flaws is even worse than including errors. At least you have a decent chance at finding an error. But flaws? What part of UNIQUE, ONE-OFF do people fail to grasp? :(

The Spew Roos And Rabbit ears cuds are  the results of weak spots on the die that are found in most years.
These are not varieties they are errors that appear just about every year minted .
The names just describe the type of cud on the coin :ok:
