Well I just got a very interesting email about lemons so here it is but what amazed me was when I seen my urologist about my kidney stones and said that I should have a little lemon juice just mixed in water because they have worked out that even though they're calcium build ups that the acid in lemon juice can really help so hopefully I'm killing a few birds with the one stone now so hope it might help some others as well :give_heart:

Useful info that may help someone ....

LISTEN UP FOLKS: This is something that we should all take seriously –
Even doctors are now saying that there is value in trying "LEMON"

So, a tablespoon of "real lemon" (not the concentrate in a bottle) in a glass of water every morning. What can it hurt?
Subject: A must-read-
The surprising benefits of lemon!

I remain perplexed!

This is the latest in medicine, effective for cancer!
Read carefully & you be the judge.
Lemon (Citrus) is a miraculous product to kill cancer cells. It is 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy.
Why do we not know about that? Because there are laboratories interested in making a synthetic version that will bring them huge profits. You can now help a friend in need by letting him/her know that lemon juice is beneficial in preventing the disease. Its taste is pleasant and it does not produce the horrific effects of chemotherapy.
How many people will die while this closely guarded secret is kept, so as not to jeopardize the beneficial multimillionaires large corporations? As you know, the lemon tree is known for its varieties of lemons and limes. You can eat the fruit in different ways: you can eat the pulp, juice press, prepare drinks, sorbets, pastries, etc... It is credited with many virtues, but the most interesting is the effect it produces on cysts and tumors. This plant is a proven remedy against cancers of all types. Some say it is very useful in all variants of cancer. It is considered also as an anti microbial spectrum against bacterial infections and fungi, effective against internal parasites and worms, it regulates blood pressure which is too high and an antidepressant, combats stress and nervous disorders.
The source of this information is fascinating: it comes from one of the largest drug manufacturers in the world, says that after more than 20 laboratory tests since 1970, the extracts revealed that:
It destroys the malignant cells in 12 cancers, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreas ... The compounds of this tree showed 10,000 times better than the product Adriamycin, a drug normally used chemotherapeutic in the world, slowing the growth of cancer cells And what is even more astonishing: this type of therapy with lemon extract only destroys malignant cancer cells and it does not affect healthy cells.

Humm I worked in and around oncology for 15 years and never heard of lemon working as  chemotherapeutic but they taste great smell good and yes I think the juice does help with kidney stones.  The full glass of water also helps. Be careful of the foodie kings cure all claims. I have known a heck of a lot of people who died prematurely treating their cancer with carrot juice and coffee enemas as they each had some self styled alternative medicine guru selling them non-evidenced based lies and charging like wounded bulls to their death beds.

Yes true RG and a lot of emails and the like you have to be suss on but as I already use lemons and was told by a specialist I thought I'd post it for others that also get kidney stones because they are very very painful to say the least and on the off chance it helps with the big C there's nothing to lose and yes just a small amount tastes quite nice and yes plenty of water to help keep the kidney's flushed out, I find your advice very helpful and thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge, I for one really appreciate it :thank_you:

yes I am fairly certain that the lemon and water & renal stones is known - something to do with the crystal formation of the stones but even then, I never once saw a renal specialist tell a patient to drink lemon juice for the stones - I think the dietary management is multifaceted

When Life Hands You Kidney Stones... don't fret. And as the saying goes, "make lemonade." It's important to consider dietary remedies alongside prescription medications. While it may seem easier to just take a pill to fix a medical problem, consider what lifestyle changes will also make a big impact on your health.
Instead: Next time you drive past a lemonade (or limeade) stand, consider your kidneys. Chronic kidney stones are often treated with potassium citrate, but studies have shown that limeade, lemonade and other fruits and juices high in natural citrate offers the same stone-preventing benefits. Beware of the sugar, though, because it can increase kidney stone risk. Instead, buy sugar-free lemonade, or make your own by mixing lime or lemon juice with water and using a sugar substitute if needed. "We believe that citrate in the urine may prevent the calcium from binding with other constituents that lead to stones," said Dr. Jhagroo. "Also, some evidence suggests that citrate may prevent crystals that are already present from binding with each other, thus preventing them from getting bigger."

with cancer claims - do be careful possum
the cancer part is a hoax email

The email and information in question did not come from the Health Sciences Institute. Whoever started this scam email did use some of our published material – which had nothing to do with lemons in any way – and inserted the information about lemons. It is erroneous and has caused us a great deal of trouble. However, most troubling is that it is giving false or un-tested medical advice to people suffering with cancer. Perhaps citrus fruits have some anti-cancer properties or perhaps they don't (I'm not qualified to speak on that), but the one thing I know for certain is the provided "source" of this information – the Health Sciences Institute – did NOT publish this information. We had nothing to do with this email or the information it contains.

Yes and for many years they thought there was a link between dairy and stones so told people to cut dairy and I thought I put up what my specialist said and here's a link to the thread :)

Now here's a little something else, if you urinate near the base of a lemon tree, it's leaves will be greener & it's fruit will be bigger.
Rather handy, you get a little juice, you give a little juice.

Yes we are very high in nitrogen so good for a few plants but too much can burn them, thanks interest :good:

I often juice 30 lemons and fill all our ice trays with pure lemon juice.! Drop a few in with soda water and enjoy a refreshing drink.!!

I always check these types of claims here to find out the real story, or if there is any truth to it:

Hello,

We have some native Lemons, the CSIRO have helped along the way. They are small, but would be great at an all Aussie food place.
