Been thinking, what if, as a group, we attempted to do an pictorial encyclopedia of all the predecimal varieties, of the Renniks, 2nd edition. We do it in order starting with the 3d's and see what else is out there.
It would be alot of work and would be an on going project.

Or the other idea is to do just an error edition of predecimals and try and log all that's out there.

Like I said, just a thought and could be a bit of fun.

I have just started a Bachelor of Technology (Computing Studies).  My plan is to learn how to create a database for coin collecting.
The starting point is a database for me, but my 'pie in the sky' idea is to make a database that is available on the internet.  It will contain an area set aside for inter alia, varieties, errors, counterfeits, and images (similar to the World Coin Gallery). Each area has the an area within it that can have images and detailed explanations (a wiki?).
The database could be used to keep track of values of coins sold at auctions and perhaps recorded or averaged.

What you have suggested is right in there with what I would like to do.

As I said, I've only just started, but it is something to aim for in my retirement.

Good . I'd be happy to supply some images for it.

OMG! I have been trying to do that with threepences for 2 years now, SUPER HARD.

Thank goodness, likeminded collectors, think a database is more of what I was thinking, more so than a book as such. I like  Yass"s 'pie in the sky' idea.
The Renniks 2nd edition was only used as a guideline reference/statement.
