I'm still waiting for Trout to comment and apologies again after completely miss quoting me And starting this political shit storm.
I said "Our" NOT "Their". Don't put words in my mouth.

Interest: I took the time to give you an answer to you question. You could at least pay the common courtesy to read it before you state that I'm completely wrong. If you took the time to read it you would see that AJ and my self are the only to people who have made an attempt to answer your question.

Please buy all the Vietnam coins you can get you hands on, I hear they're going to be a hot item
But only if you buy ever last one and hold a monopoly on them.

To get back on topic. Neither of those coins will ever be an investment worth making sell the coins and put the money in the back and in 60 years you will be in front just on inflation or just spend it.

If you think I'm wrong state you case for why they would be investment grade coins.

But anyway the AFL coin had everything gong for it,
The box is in the shape of a football the coin looked good with the Cup on the Reverse, & the gold.
I think it just slipped through the cracks.
With the right advertising this coin would have done well & as I remember at the time there was none, only what the dealers put out.
Not forgetting it came out in 2004 there were not the same amount of "Grannybait" as there is now.

But there is a token with the same a very similar cup design that was used for the centenary season token by the herald sun.

I find it funny how some things are underrated and others over, eg the state series and wedding coin sets are just a couple I think are underrated but so many of the granny bait like the dollar series are very overrated because I think the mint is more worried about spinning a quick buck these days and yes I think how they advertise has a bit to do with it as well :dodgy: Some coins just sell them selves and others need a little help

It's one of my favourite's as well.
you don't get that sort of packaging any more, plus it's a good looking coin, should have done a lot better.
If you put this up against the 2000 V.C. coin the packaging is similar
both are war themed (I know the VC  was commemorating 100 yrs) the V.C coin had close to 100,00 minted, where as the Vietnam only had 57,000 minted. (Also, was there not somebody on a previous forum who claimed he had 10,000 of these?) I bought ten at an early auction for $10 each thought I had done well.
They were issued at $7.50 each. Selling now for $9.45 to $20 each.
I don't understand that.

A lot might have to do with the economy ATM interest as a lot of things have dropped right off recently and not only in coin collecting so in a few years when things pick up again you might be glad you have them and as long as you like the coin it's all good :)
