Basically, they're giving coins away to anyone in Australia who wants them. Needs an aussie Mobile number to validate via SMS, but you can give your coins to anyone you wish after you've got them. You might even be able to spend them one day, after they've all been distributed, of course.

Its not Doge, nor Bitcoin, but there's no reason not to accept them, right?

Must have a look see tonight Fulvio, thanks.

How's the fish tank coming along?

Passed the halfway mark, so I ditched the shield. Still can't read unless I hold stuff up high (or, like now, lie down so the bubble's out of view), but at this rate, should be fine in a week. Bit concerned about lack of focus in the other one though. I'll have to ask them about that when I go back for a checkup next month.

Thanks for asking.

Costs only your privacy, in exchange for something that costs them next to nothing to make.

Well, I know own 500 ozziecoins so who knows what I'll do with them...nothing for a while, I imagine.

At least I'm 500 ozziecoins richer than I was 2 mins ago.

Heh. The entire cryptospace is one massive experiment. Because unless enough people are on board, nothing will ever come of it. Kind of like telephones. Completely useless, until someone invented the second one.

As for the privacy, you guys gotta be kidding me.. as if mobile numbers were EVER private! And the reason they use them is to keep the foreigners out.

Oh, and BTW, your stash will grow over time. they're doing distributions every so often. I've had two parcels already, adding up to about 70,000.

Space age invisible coinage that be cashed in at this stage.

It should have been advertised as such and not hidden as per Dodgecoins and bitcoins junk.

My mobile no is not for advertising invisible coinage or adverts in general thank you very much.

What?

Do you not know what SMS verification is? You should.. your bank uses it, don't they?

They send you a 6-digit number which you have a couple of minutes to enter to prove that you are really you. That's it. No ads of any sort. Its a security measure for your protection, as it stops hackers dead in their tracks. Or, in this case, it proves you really are an aussie, as you have an aussie phone number.

My mobile phone is for my private use and for anyone else to send me unwanted stuff.

I have the phone for emergencies and not for every day stuff.   It is not a smart phone.

I am still living in the 60's/and 70's where at one time if people wanted to contact someone else you either phoned them on the home phone or sent a letter.

Sorry Fulvio you and anybody else will not convince me otherwise.

Yes I am sure verification is part of the reason but once they have your mobile number that can do a lot of things with it. Look at their privacy statement:

QuoteWe may use your Personal Information for the following purposes:

6. to provide you with information about products, services and promotions that may be of interest to you, from ourselves and third parties;

7. for research e.g. surveying your needs and opinions on issues affecting ozziecoin.

Meh, I've had a mobile since they were bricks, and have never been shy about handing my number out. The ONLY spam SMS's I've ever received have been from Optus and the Hyundai dealer I bought my car from. In both cases its two seconds to delete them unread.

Now spam emails, on the other hand... ;)
