Hello,

Many of us have an older car with a stuffed Cassette player. Or a newer one with a Dud CD player. An MP3 player is cheap to buy, and you can get a Modulator which will transmit it to your FM radio. I used this setup in a work Car some years ago. Now these are so cheap now, Car still looks original and no climbing under the dash to install. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Red-Fashion-Portable-USB-2-0-Car-MP3-WMA-Player-FM-Transmitter-With-Remote-/191544705388?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item2c98f4416c I have put in a link of one I found with a quick look. Most will take an SD card, and with the size of MP3 files you can carry an enormous amount of music. Now a few traps....... Many will play WMA, and most will play MP3's. Windows since about XP will make WMA files from your CD's. Something to think about as a cheap thing if you have a work Car you cant install stuff in.

The link is just a sample of what is out there. I have seen similar things from $5 ( no WMA though )

Last few times we have gone to Fiji and hired a vehicle I have taken one with an MP3 loaded USB stick. Worked well.
I now use it in my car which has the sound system (and display) integrated with just about everything else. You could add another but can't remove the stock one!
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

JeffH,

I remember when I first saw the integration. I thought it may have been to make it harder to remove the normal stereo and fit a ridiculously loud one. No heater / demister = defect. I dont know why people want to send themselves deaf, and advertise they have poor taste in music. Loud can be fun, but when the whole car rattles enough. The mental giants who do this fill the boot with Subs, no space for a spare wheel. Clever.

Another device for those with a cassette player, is a dummy cassette that couple to the tape head. They are fed from a portable CD device typically. The downside is the rattle like a @#$%. To stop the Cassette player from trying to reverse or stop, the spools have a band to keep them turning.
