I received a link this morning from the Royal Mint for advance ordering of the new UK £20 for £20 coin commemorating the 100th anniversary of the First World War.  The coin is on sale to the general public from 8 July with a limit of 5 per household.  For a period of 24 hours my order limit is 10 coins.

"Like all British coins it carries the coinage portrait of Her Majesty The Queen on its obverse. And on the reverse is Britannia, a potent national symbol for centuries. Here she is depicted by sculptor John Bergdahl full of quiet belief, placing her trust in the first British troops to set sail across the Channel."

Huge human suffering took place during the Great War.
I believe that such "commemorative" issues for WW1 are inappropriate.
Because the mints only want to make money out of it.
Lets remember the valour of all the men who fought rather than make a buck.

I got the link too. Coin looks nice.

Well it's £12 for shipping! So £32 for £20 Coin for Aus.

War themes seem to be rather popular with collectors though.

Many men died for their country.

Maybe if we purchased 5 as a group we could save on postage?
