I recently bought a batch of cook island explorers $50 Stirling silver coins and they look good. have high build quality and colour but on the scales they are a bit all over the place. we are talking of a range of 19-19.40 grams on a coin that is meant to hit 20.94grams
anyone else encountered this?
anyone else got some that they can chuck on a scale?
I would usually call fake but the coin quality is fantastic, the packaging has the appropriate age to it and I see no reason why someone would fake such a low value coin in such high quality
I have to say if franklin mint "stole" 1 gram of silver per coin that is a lot of money they made!

not quite but close. they generally pray on uninformed people selling them granny bait coins/silver bars watches, clocks etc. I even have some genuine numi stuff eg 1954 florin, that they have packaged with a pamphlet and charged $29.95 for!!
they do a lot of mail order stuff and for a while there they minted some proofs sets for countries like the Bahamas/ cook islands etc.
thing is the stuff they have done was bought by a generation of people who are now dropping off the perch and their children don't want the dust collectors that their parents paid a lot for.
I will never say no to cheap silver, I consider it my junk silver stuff so I pick up lots of it every once in a while. good way to stack silver imho
