Increased magnification from USB microscope

OK, here's a sample from dozens of happy snaps:

The coin is a 1998 $2 I found this afternoon. I was pretty happy with finding a low mintage year.. and then I turned it over and fell out of my chair!

Pics are handheld, with a combination of the 8 white LED's and my Halogen desk lamp. Hand holding would be OK if we had three or more arms, so I'm going to be looking at some kind of fixture(s) after I study the tupperware options I think.

Is the light source that comes with the KB suitable for most coin photos at super close zoom or are more LEDs/Halogens required?

Adequate, but flat. You end up with something like a photocopy or scan look. I figure if you're using a scope, you're looking at something 3D, so a little angled light helps lift the detail. But what would I know? Ask one of the old hands at this..

Nice pics of some nice cuds there Fulvio ..... good to see the cud-o-scope is living up to it's namesake!

Thanks. I'm going to take it back to the bank tomorrow and show my new teller friend who's going to try and get me an Armaguard sack of pretty new $2's. This one came out of the sack she gave me yesterday.
