Forum Backups

I've spent the last 30 minutes setting up a backup regime for this forum.  Right now this is what is happening:

- At 4:00PM every afternoon the server that this forum is on does a full database dump.  The databases on the server contain all of the forum structure, posts, and users.

- At 6:00PM every night the server deletes all database backups that are older than five days.

- At 8:00PM every night a Mac Mini server that sits under my desk contacts the forum server and downloads an incremental copy of the entire web directory and database backup directory.  An incremental copy means it only copies the files that have changed since the last backup.  The web directory contains all of the post attachments and gallery uploads, and the various files and scripts that make the forum and gallery tick.

- The backup directory on the Mac Mini is continually backed up to an external hard-drive that gets swapped out with another drive and taken off site.

Basically this means that if the worst happens we can restore the forum on a new server with, at most, the loss of one day of data.

FYI. Our server in LA that the forum lives on and the backups are made to we call Penny. Our backup backup onsite here is called Einstein. We have other servers that live with Penny that are called Sheldon and Leonard.

Nah, Macs aren't vulnerable like those other, inferior toys most of the world uses.

Knowing the server names doesn't help anyone do anything to them.  The three servers are all running Ubuntu.

When I read the first server name I was expecting the others to be Shilling and Florin etc.
