1981 scalloped planchet 20c

This one doesn't seem to get much discussion - maybe too much time has passed since the initial discovery and they appear on the market too infrequently?

Anyway, I thought it was interesting that it's not the first time that it happened - I saw recently that at least one 1975 New Zealand 20c was struck with a scalloped planchet - incidentally 1975 was the first year that Hong Kong dollars were struck with scalloped planchets.

I'd say they're "not discussed much", in terms of modern social media hype, because unlike most other errors and varieties, there's zero chance of stumbling upon one in change. Since we have no scalloped coins, one would stand out like a sore thumb. So they're effectively all found by 1982.

When I had the shop I have a customer who had 2.....I believe there were 4 found and he was trying to get them all. I dont recall any coming onto the market for at least the last 15 years...tho could be wrong.

I thought a dealer had one for sale maybe 10 years ago - I don't remember exactly but I don't think it was well publicised.

A friend of mine sent me a pic, ages ago, of his scalloped kiwi 20 cent. I was curious about the edge on it at the time.
