Not sure whether this should go in the NCLT thread or the Circulating thread .. but...

Has anyone else noticed that in 2016 the RAM did not release a $2 Lest we Forget coin (Usually in April, Anzac day), Or a $2 Remembrance day coin (Usually in November around Remembrance day).

So far since 2012 when they started releasing coloured $2 coins this is what they have done....

2012 No Lest We Forget Coin
2012 Remembrance Red Poppy

2013 No Lest We Forget or Remembrance Coin

2014 No Lest We Forget Coin
2014 Remembrance - Peace Dove

2015 Lest We Forget - Gallipoli
2015 Remembrance - In Flanders Fields

2016 No Lest We Forget or Remembrance Coin

2017 Lest We Forget - Hall of Memory
2017 Remembrance - Rosemary Leaves & Flowers

2018 Lest We Forget - Eternal Flame
2018 Remembrance - Armistice

It might have been that in 2016 they were too busy with the coloured Olympics $2 coins
and in 2013 too busy with the purple 60 Years of Coronation $2 coin

But it seems that they have now settled on both a "Lest We Forget" and a "Remembrance" coin for both 2017 & 2018.

Unless I missed something?

If I remember correctly the coins for Lest We Forget and Remembrance were suppose to be for the years 2014  & 2018 but somewhere along the line they put some coins in between.

Mister T

I hadn't noticed but it was sitting in the back of my head how they started with one per year then eventually it became two, and what will happen next year?

Yes, brismike. I did notice that there weren't any ANZAC or Remembrance Day $2 coins issued in 2016. I think they were too busy with the Olympic and Paralympic coins, not to mention the Changeover coins. They released 8 different $2 coins into circulation that year, so it's not surprising that they didn't want to make any more. Furthermore, the coloured coins take a lot longer to make than ordinary coins, and 2016 was the year they really ramped up production of them.

Here is the total number of coloured $2 coins released by year:
2012: 0.5 million
2013: 1.0 million
2014: 1.9 million
2015: 3.6 million
2016: 12.0 million
2017: 11.0 million
2018: Not Available
