What would happen to any artifacts (like coins) recovered? What's the ownership situation?

As the Brits didn't own the ship when it was scuttled then I would think that they have NO claim on the wreck or any of the artefacts.
It is in US waters so I assume that it will dealt with by the US authorities .

Would be good if our government make a case that anything salvaged be repatriated to Australia, given the national historical significance.

Our government have Sponsored the search so I imagine that we will have "Dibs" on some of the artefacts :good:

Given the provenance of that particular vessel I think quite few countries could claim "national historical significance".
Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.
