Going thru some coins I found at my deceased mother-in-laws place and I came across this beauty........just cannot make up my mind if it is real or a home made job.  It is a 1984 circulated dollar coin.
What do you think?

Also found this 1985 Dollar with cud.......

Your thoughts appreciated.
Cheers

It looks to me like something has impacted the coin from the edge inwards by the way the metal has flowed from the rim in towards the middle of the coin.
I am pretty sure this is PMD.
Possibly caused by a pair of side cutters.

The metal across the legend and the spatters on the roos suggests someone was playing with an arc welder.

That said, it **might** be a cold shut, but need better pics, especially of the gap edges to be able to tell.

I'd say based on those pics, 90-95% PMD.

I agree with the others re the 84, but the 85 with 'rabbit' is IMO a very rare beast, so put it in a holder and make sure not to chuck it in your discards. :yahoo:
