Whoever the owner was they had a serious noodling habit

Putting aside the green gunk, the coins do seem to be in good condition which is pretty impressive.

fantastic find
these hammered (?) coins are in mint condition - how lucky to snap up some numismatic history in such good condition
bet they will be searching for the jars filled with gold coins now ... to pay the higher ranking public figures

Yeah, definitely a collector's hoard. Guess the kids never found it when he carked it, eh? ;)

No chance of anything like this happening on this patch of dirt in 1500 years time. If it hasn't fallen down (well cypress and corrugated iron struggle to see out a generation) we pull it down. Wonder how the Drapers hoard would have looked that many years down the track. All we can hope for is the arrival of another bone from a giant Roo or Wombat as our weather worn continent progresses on.
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!
