I just found this in my Mothers jewelry collection. She wanted me to clean it and several other coins. I said no we will just leave it as it is.
Has anyone else seen a one cent stamped on a five cent . If it is as uncommon as i think should i get it slabbed.[attachment=3483][attachment=3484][attachment=3485]

You have a BIG winner there. I think it's valued quite high.

It looks to me like a one cent coin in a bezel made from a 5 cent coin.
Aim well to enjoy life. You only get One shot at it.

Yep, that's exactly what it is. Jewelry, not coins. :(

I thought a five but i have just put it against a five and it appears different. The size of the coin is the same as a 5 cent but the edge is the same

Different colours, different metals for starters, and there are other things that look incorrect.

This is a 2 cent on a 1 cent plancet.

I have had a good look and managed to pry off the bevel. Had me going for a while thought i was on a winner. Mum can have it back now.

Should have seen me when I found my silver penny, a long time ago, was pretty excited as well. :)

Plenty of people get excited when they find something spectacular. And some of them refuse to believe that what they have isn't the find of the century. Remember whatsername with the chinese fake 1930 Penny, for example?

The answer, of course, is knowledge. Understanding how and why things happen lets us identify things that just cannot be.. without some 'assistance' that is.

And as a bonus, the knowledge lets us discover the true rarities when they cross our paths. When I find something of value, I always marvel at the number of unsuspecting hands its been through before reaching me.

The hands of unsuspecting FOOLS who neither know or care! :diablo:

So very true Fulvio, :), knowledge and an understanding is the key.
