Hi Runway,

The 2013 coin was not a Privy Mark - it was a Counterstamp.

Counterstamps are added AFTER the coin has been minted, such as the 2013 coin where the M was added using a press - in fact members of the public were allowed to do it.

On the other hand, a Privy mark is added to the original design of the coin and appears at the time of minting the coin.

The Canberra mint has tightened up on their definitions too - see:

http://www.ramint.gov.au/media/noticeboard/2008/downloads/20080411.pdf

The Privy marks will have a square around them, the Counterstamps will have a circle around them.

Cheers

I got mine for $20 a pop :)
If buying in bulk I would imagine that they should be cheaper per item not an added 2-5 dollars per item:angel:

Runway,  if you are still saying that the 2013 Melbourne Stamp Expo Kangaroo and map 50c piece was a privy mark then I am afraid you are wrong.

One had to buy the PNC less coin for $30.00 and one received a token to take to the RAM Stand.

With that token, it was exchanged for a Counterstamp "M" coin to be placed into the PNC.

Even Greg MacDonalds Pocket Catalogue had it wrong in the first instance.   He has since corrected his notes re this counterstamp.

Hope this puts and end to this particular discussion.
