I haven't added a single coin to my collections for over a Month.
That doesn't sound that long for most But for Me that is very strange.
There is usually always something out there that perks my interest But I haven't seen anything that is vaguely interesting to me lately.
I have also got coins that I have bought over the last few months that I haven't even bothered to add to their various albums yet, They are just sitting there and some of them are still in unopened packages.
Maybe I just need to take a break from coins for a while and pursue my other interests and see what happens in a few months.

Even though there seems to be an increase in the scamsters out there and that BS from RAM last year hasn't been that helpful either I don't think that is the problem, I just seem to have lost my "Passion" for coins over the last few Months.
I think that I will just take a break from coins for a while and see what happens from there.

Sad news there Troutski.

I've had a couple of lulls in my collecting career and that has usually been timed with excessive workloads etc. Often it's also timed itself with some significant rarities coming along that I didn't pay attention to at the time.

Make sure you keep up to date (even on the home maintenance thread) so that you don't blink & miss something.

Don't worry I do the same but sooner or later I come back :friends:

I do that on a regular basis as well, trout. Last break I really had lasted a couple of years.

Same here,my collecting career has been on/off ever since i left School in 1968,missed a lot of the late 70's and early 80's then back with a Passion when the Internet started in the late 1990's.
Other than a dealer i think they would name a syndrome after you if you went at it 24/7, year after year.

You can't quit. You haven't yet convinced PCGS that wedding set coins are specimen. :P

I am Not quitting Per Se , I just won't be adding anything to my collections at the moment.
Oh I am absolutely certain that PCGS are fully aware that the Wedding Set coins are "Specimen" Strikes and the reasons why they haven't given them a SP designation  are more to do with the market forces than anything else.
When these were first graded they would have created an instant "Windfall" for the dealers/sellers that submitted them because they would have graded up to MS69 and became the Top of the Wazza in the set registries simply because they are a Far superior coin to anything available from the circulation strikes in the Mint/Baby sets and rolls.
I did find it peculiar however that none of the early submissions Made it to MS70 because on average about 10% of these coins usually make that grade now
Maybe now that Mr Cotton has had hundreds of these graded and PCGS has put "Wedding Set" on the slab as the pedigree they MAY eventually correctly designate these.
As NGC did the right thing "First Up" with these and hopefully more will be graded with them PCGS might do the right thing eventually.

Well Trout I'm about to test the waters again with sending 2003,2004 wedding sets in to NGC and see how these rate.

I also loose my taste for certain coins every now and then so I change my theme for a while.

I no longer collect Australian decimal coins....the RAM did that to me, but still collect Australian PNC's.

Lately have been sticking with "bird" coins and have started collecting early coins from Newfoundland.

Stick with it mate.....maybe try and collect something else for a while.  Just won a selection of early Aerogrammes from a decease estate even though I do not collect them.  Thought it was a little different so will see where it leads me.

You'll get the bug again,i reckon a few weeks break will increase your passion.

I joined Ebay in Oz. around 2000 to sell my Stamps & Coins, that lasted a few weeks before i started buying again, bargains everywhere in the early days as obviously people had the same aim as me to sell, sell, sell.
17 years later the end result is i've increased my Coin Collection ten times over.
