I was looking at a few coppers and noticed this one, is it a known "variety" ?

IT's definately a known variety and would think it's quite common as I've had a few over
the years and they didn't seem to stir up much interest when I was selling them

Yes not too "shabby" :)
It has two other breaks on the "2" and also the top of the "8", the second "N" is weak legged but I cant find a dot before the "P" in PENNY.

A few more pics.

weak "N"

no dot

8 pearls and a Centre diamond :)

Some of those 1928 Pennies can have quite a lot of 'bits' of the letters or numbers missing.

I think I remember the most 'missing bits' from one coin was 9, that was on the old ACBO forum and I think the poster was QldSandy.

There're some lists of the known 'missing bits' in some earlier posts in this thread.

I'll quickly add this one, last year sometime I was in an auction bidding on a broken 8 variety and noticed something a tad different with the coin. It was missing part of the bottom scroll. Bidding ended up going higher than I wanted to pay for it but thinking back, I haven't seen another one since.

Fordie knows heaps about this error - perhaps he can enlighten us!
