2009 $1 MOR - Rabbit Ears Progression & "The Boomerang"

Having a great time trying to work out the progression of some of the more recent errors and found this quite interesting.

Way back on March I noticed an odd "boomerang" shaped cud on a 2009 pre rabbit ears die cracked coin. (Below is a link to the post).

Today I was taking pics of a 2009 rabbit ears for ebay and noticed the same "boomerang" so I went back and checked my previous pics.

So far I've only had three 2009 rabbit ears and it seems all of them have the "boomerang", though I obviously missed it the first two times.

The best part is that the three do show a progression in cudding.

All appear to have the fine splash cud on the second roo's back.

The second two below show a progression in an additional cud under the big roo's ear.





This is the one I was photographing today when I noticed the boomerang.

Thanks AJ, yes, I think Goldie might have called it that. Looks like a bikini top blowing in the wind. I think Nevol has a pic in her 2009 onwards thread.

Sure am Pedro, I just like to try and see how they progress from broken die impressions, to die cracks to cuds, cuds and more cuds!!!

AJ, now had I said it looks like two beanies sewn together ......... :laugh2:

I just sussed mine and have 7 sunset/bikini/double beanie and 3 R/E and all have that funny mark :good:

Thanks for checking AJ. I knew you had a 2009 r/e or so. So far that might mean only the one die broke to form rabbit ears. I think in 2010 every die broke :laugh2:
