So I would love to have seen the die after striking this coin! I would think it exploded soon after

Nice example. That particular 1926 is well known.
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!

serial

really? I didn't know. how much are they worth?

Goldseeker

Tis a pity we don't have a 3D Computer.   Nice scans/photos of the die cracks.

re: value - it is in the eye of the beholding varieties' collector

I sold the best example that i'd ever found - a full clearly shattered die example) for about $26 at auction on ebay a few years ago (a member here won it)

he then sold on later and it achieved a lower sale then buy price

serial

I didn't actually take a pic of the other side sorry, just wanted to show the cracks. my grade would be gF to vf with 6 clear pearls part diamonds and good fields.
at $26 this one is of to the long term file

Nevol

This is my shattered coin, well almost.  I have about 5 or 6 of these, all pretty much the same.  Most also have 2 Obv errors, a D.Ck from HM's neck - Rim and a cud on HM's eyebrow.

Anyone else got some different examples?

+1 here

Cool die shatter Nevol.
Serial the 1926 die shatter is one of the classic error coins. It can be found in various stages. The more spectacular the more the asking price.
