Not going to say what these sites are.. I'll leave that as a homework assignment.

But as I look over the data, I can't help but wonder what insight could be gained if this kind of portal into all things numismatic existed. eBay price trends.. circulating coin shipments, currency supply... etc etc etc.

Meh, that would require both data and skills to crunch it. And we can't even get accurate info on mintages, which should be a no-brainer. :(

Still, a guy can dream, right?

Very clever tools built to monitor, analyse and display every aspect of the two networks in real time.

Everything on the internet generates this sort of data. You'd be surprised just how much one could tell about you every time you click on anything for example. The trick is to turn this data into something useful. In this case useful to the community, not to some commercial operator trying to stick their hands in your pocket. ;)

For example, eBay has this type of data, and the visualisation tools. But they don't let you see it. They keep it for themselves and use it to come up with better ways to make more money from you. Google, Apple, etc are the same. Everything you do on Google's network is micro-analysed, and used to make billions.

Go through your cookies regularly and delete anything that's ad-related.

Start with everything that has a type of __GADS, you'll be amazed how many there are. Then take out anything with ad. or ads. at the start of the name. Finally if some site is particularly annoying or you never use it, kill all its cookies.

Its not usually a good idea to delete ALL your cookies, cos you'd be amazed how much useful stuff is in there. I see 8 cookies for the forum alone for example. ;)

I upgraded to Win 10 on a spare computer on the W/end,(still prefer 8.1 at this stage),clean install,no files kept, deleted old Win. folder, cloned to a new HDD and booted, all done on a new prepaid USB stick to avoid wiping out my data allowances.I usually use Chrome but surfed on Edge to see what its like and 2 Forums(not this one) ID my computer and offered a logon box...how???.
I spent 5 years on Mainframes many moons ago and have been involved with desktops since the 1980's and whilst no expert like to think i know my way around Windows.
Only thing i can thing of is i downloaded Chrome before cloning but although i did not use it somehow its affected surfing on Edge.

You do realise Win10 spies on you, right? I believe most of it can be turned off, but its all defaulted on. This has been going on for a while (basically the same sort of thing Apple do with iCloud, but at least they tell you about it) but its now much more comprehensive. So my guess is it pulled stuff out of what they previously had on you.

As they say... "A computer without Windows is like a dog without bricks tied to its head".

Possibly Fulvio, bit of a worry thou.I think its more likely something to do with Google,i downloaded Chrome and logged in to get all my links,i didn't connect to a web page then cloned to a new HDD.I then used Edge to do some surfing,Chrome was never used.Apparently Chrome installs a copy of itself on the computer so it can update itself in the background and somehow my Browser history has been picked up by Edge, whatever the case its a big,big  worry.

On data visualisation, have you played around with Tableau Public? https://public.tableau.com/s/

Pretty simply and it's free.
