I'm travelling in Europe at the moment with the missus. Today we visited Verona in the north of Italy. A beautiful town where Romeo and Juliet came from etc etc etc ... (The missus likes all that touristy bollox)

Anyway we stopped off at a small street side eatery and ordered some wine, pizza and pasta. It was very nice. Bill came to €30.80, gave the waiter a 50 euro note. Got €19.20 in change.

Looked at the coins and WOW ... scored a 2016 Monaco €2 coin in very good condition. :taunt: :taunt: :taunt:

Made my day ... :) ...  missus could not understand how chuffed I  was lol.

Cheers Mike

Well done Brismike. With less than 1M minted, that's a great find. :)
Yes, I'm jealous.

Definitely a great find.

Thus far, I have never found a coin from Monaco in circulation.

By the way, keep an eye on 50 Cent coins while in Italy. You have the best chance of finding one from the Vatican in circulation there. The Vatican 50 Cent occasionally make it to Germany. Alas, I haven't found one yet.

Got a good online concise resource for what to look out for?

After 16 years of Euro coins and banknotes, I'm afraid the answer is ''No, there isn't.'' At least, I don't konw of any.

Rule of thumb: Coins from San Marino, Vatican City, Monaco and Andorra can be found in actual circulation after the Euro member countries changed the rules of emission in 2009/2010. Easiest to look for is Vatican because they only issue 50c for circulation. Monaco €1 and €2. San Marino has issued all denoms for circulation.
How complex it has become shows this web-site about mintage figures. It's unfortunately in German only. But click on the flag in the top row and you get the numbers. Black figures is circulation, red is mint-sets only.

Thinking is dangerous, it makes you think. That\'s why many people avoid it.

Oh nice, thanks. That site looks pretty good.

NZ coins - heading there next week - what should I look out for ?

From change I suspect nothing too much except higher grades of all denominations from recent years. I, for one, am sadly lacking in any of those for my set and would be happy to do a deal.

Of course, I stand to be corrected.

{Not sure this is the right thread.}

http://www.coinerrors.nz/coins/new-zealand-decimal/20-cent/2006-2/2014-20c-die-varieties/ is the only variety I'm aware of (probably check that site for any other).
