[attachment=3127]This is a quick picture I thought I would share. This is a piece of art I created for my aunties 50th birthday. I gave it to her last night and she was stoked. It was a fun project so I might be making some more.

Hello,

It is always good to make something nice. Far better than a cheap piece of plastic from Chine. I make stuff, and often the item does not show the thought and planning to make it just right.

Where did you hear about this Robbiegal? More information would be great.

An Australian Aboriginal artist has to be authorised by their elders to paint the traditional dot art
I got that information from an Aboriginal artist who I buy dot art from

they can't just start the art work on their own  - they have to be approved to do it

I thought you may have been approved but the dots in your work don't look quite right for traditional Australian Aboriginal dot art (well to me, no expert but I have a few paintings as my reference)

which DOESN"T mean that your frame isn't FAB!!! cause it is

Great job, personal stuff like this is tops. I've done the odd special birthday project for family and they always love it.
As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!

Thanks for all the nice comments. It was fun to make.
Very interesting Robbiegal. I never knew that, My auntie is aboriginal and loved it. Your right about the dot work, I haven't had much practice. I have bigger piece im working on at the moment which is done in stippling with the aboriginal theme in our currency. Its going to take a while to finish though.

Good on you

it does take a lot of practice and you need very fine tipped brushes for those small dots (& you can hold your wrist with your other hand to keep things stable - my former training coming through there)

I figured that there must have been a significant connection for you to have done such a meaningful piece of artwork. I am sure that, if it is family, the elders would give you their blessings  xx

Cool, Thanks for your advise, I respect the culture and will seek for a blessing for my next piece.;)

Hello,

I remember some controversy years ago, when the Dot Art work started coming from Chine. The local Artists wanted a Ban or Licence fee. Something like that anyway.
