My first computer was a state of the art IBM 286 that had 1 meg of ram, a CGA video card and a massive 10 meg or so hard drive that cost me over $3000 in the eighties.
I was told that I would never be able to fill that drive back then.

Gee they've come so far and gotten so much cheaper but then they'd want to other wise I still wouldn't be on line. $3000 buys a lot of coins, or one good one, or a deposit for a big one.

Ah, yes...

Try 8" floppies at ten bucks each that held 128 kB. We used to punch holes in them to make them double-sided.

And I remember finding a box when I was cleaning out the shop.. it had eight 4k x 1-bit chips in it, and the customs declaration was for US$129!

Care to work out how much the 32 Gb in my iPod would cost at that rate?
